3400 Ice Pack
SKU: 3-10455-1
55L PACK, IDEAL FOR
- Ice & Snow
- Alpine Climbing, Ice Climbing & Mountaineering
The 3400 Ice Pack is the pack to grab for multi-day Winter excursions, where volume flexibility for extra food and clothing is a critical ingredient to your success. When the extra volume is not in use, the 3400’s top can roll down enough to make the overall size of the pack similar to the 2400, but that additional space can come in pretty handy when you need it.
For the approach, the climb, and the descent, our Ice Pack is that perfect companion that’s never in the way, yet always right there when needed. Whether the day is spent on cliffs or mountains, concentrate on the climb without the distraction of cumbersome equipment.

Fast n Light!
Bought this pack for 2-3day alpine pursuits this climbing season. After a shakedown this has replaced 2of my other packs….extremely versatile if you like moving fast and have flexibility for 1-3+ day pursuits.
Top notch!
Better than i expected.
Hyperlite 3400 Ice Pack
The best thing about this pack is the crampon attachment. I have used this pack for everything, hiking, climbing, mountaineering, backpacking. The ice tool spots are nice too. The gear loop option is helpful when your harness is full or the hip belt might be in the way of your gear. The pack is very light weight and after about 20 miles it does get a little uncomfortable when fully loaded but that is to be expected for such a "minimal" pack. It's also pretty hard to get a water bladder into it, so I just use a water bottle. But this pack is very nice for what it's intended for, Ice climbing. Easy access to your essential gear. It also has a pretty good pocket on the inside for your other things (headlamp, lighter, bandaids, water purification, fire starter, T.P, ect.) it's roll top so getting inside for other things can be a pain sometimes but it's worth the weight reduction. It's also waterproof, I've never had any gear get wet. And the dyneema is very strong, I've slammed it on rocks and the ground and it has never ripped when a normal pack probably would. I've been able to get all the gear I need into this pack even for multiple day trips. Including a camera. Overall, a very nice pack and a great option to have in the stash.
Best Ice Pack Ever!!!
Received this pack for my birthday, and just in time for my trip to Ouray. The pack worked flawlessly, both in the Ice Park and in the backcountry. Two main things; #1 the pack really allowed me to tip my head all the way back even with my helmet on. #2, The gear loops and Ice Clippers were right were they need to be without conflicts with my harness' side gear loops. This allowed me to carry plenty of screws on those 60 meter routes. Black Diamond Cobras fit perfectly in the axe holders.
The pack fits wonderfully, and was without unanticipated restrictions.
Not sure if I have properly figured out the bungee cord crampon straps. Even though I crossed the straps across the crampons, it always felt like the crampons were still just dangling off the pack. I don't recall a picture or diagram in the attached brochure, but maybe I missed something? It just seems like two nylon straps with Fastex buckles would be more secure and more adjustable.
Loved the small interior pocket. Great for storing the wallet, and car keys out of the way while climbing, but close at hand at the end of the day. Wish my Windrider had one too!
My partner was really impressed. Looks like he'll be getting one soon.
A comfortable pack?
I was joking with a friend the other day about how there’s no such thing as a “comfortable” pack. After all, once you add significant weight, every pack become uncomfortable! So instead, I think it’s smarter to invest in lightweight packs that carry weight efficiently, thus minimizing the discomfort of a heavy load. I think Hyperlites achieve that. The lack of a lid minimizes top-heaviness, while the narrow body and compression straps keep the weight cinched close to my body. That said, I think these packs would benefit from cinch straps connecting the top of the shoulder straps to the body of the pack. The existing cinch strap on top of the pack doesn’t achieve the same effect.
